13 Frugal Father’s Day Experience Gifts

Do you ever feel like you get your Dad the same old gifts every year? And they just sit somewhere, creating clutter?

Or maybe you can’t think of a thing to get him that he doesn’t already have?

Men seem to be the hardest to buy for!

Why not give an experience gift instead of a physical gift? Something that takes up no room at all, and will definitely be used. Sounds pretty good!

Here’s some ideas for a Father’s Day experience gift!

13 Frugal Father’s Day Experience Gifts

  1. Plan a fishing trip

Plan everything and let Dad know the details just in time to get packed up and head out for a day of fishing. Pick the place, pack the gear, make lunches, and enjoy a day with Dad. Don’t forget the bait!

  2. Day of hiking

Pick a cool hiking spot, pack some gear and snacks, and give Dad the details of your hiking trip.

  3. Go for a bike ride

Load up the bikes, fill up the water bottles, and pick a cool place to ride bikes with Dad or the whole family. You can be as extreme or as casual with this as you like.

  4. Golfing trip

Book a tee time and treat Dad to a day of golfing. You could go to a driving range, putt putt course, or go for a full round of golf.

  5. Nature walk

Find a cool park or nature area nearby, and go for a family nature walk. Enjoy being outside!

  6. Picnic

Head to a local park, or somewhere with some pretty scenery, and enjoy a family picnic. Pack games like Frisbee, football, or card games.

  7. Complete a project together

Build something or complete a project together. Has your Dad been talking about making something or finishing a project? Get all the supplies together and tell him you’re ready to help him tackle it!

  8. Watch movies

Dad might just want to chill and relax! Plan an evening (or a whole day) to just watch movies and chill. Get his favorite snacks, order pizza, and hand him the remote.

  9. Play games

Plan a family game night with board games, card games, and lots of snacks.

  10. Bowling

Head to the local bowling alley and enjoy a little friendly competition.

  11. Family pizza night

Get the whole family involved! Grab all the ingredients to make homemade pizzas and enjoy some time in the kitchen together. Let Dad pick a movie to watch after dinner!

  12. Head to his favorite store

Head to Dad’s favorite store and just walk around looking at things he loves. The men in my family love outdoor, farm, and sports stores. Bonus: Get him a gift card and let him get whatever he wants!

  13. Check Groupon

Groupon always has cool experience gift ideas and great deals! You could get a massage, a deal on a new local restaurant, tickets to a local brewery or distillery, or even a voucher to drive a race car.

I think it’s fun to think outside the box (literally) and give experience gifts instead of the same old thing. Dad will appreciate the thought behind the gift and will be happy to actually use it! And spend time together! 🙂

What would you add to this list?

Happy Father’s Day!
