Kids don’t need much to be entertained and happy. The toy aisle would make you think otherwise.

Small gifts are perfect for kids, especially when the gift can keep them entertained by using their creativity, imagination, or learning a new skill.

I’m a big fan of keeping things simple, and letting kids be creative and use their imaginations. These $5 gift ideas work perfectly for that!

21 Gift Ideas for Kids Under $5:

A lot of these items can be found at Dollar Tree or another dollar store. Consider putting together a basket for the child to create something, build something, or use in multiple ways.

A gift doesn’t have to be one single toy, it can be a collection of supplies they can use in various ways.

These $5 gift ideas for kids are fun, unique, and creative. Check Dollar Tree or Dollar General for most of these gift ideas for kids under $5.

1. Coloring Book + Crayons or Colored Pencils

These supplies can be found cheap at a dollar store, grocery store, Walmart, or Target.

2. Craft Supply Basket

You can get all the supplies for a craft supply basket from Dollar Tree. Pick up a plastic bin or small basket (or just a gift bag), and fill with a few craft supplies for a fun gift basket.

They will be able to use these supplies over and over for more fun!

3. Art Supply Basket

Again, all of these supplies can be found at Dollar Tree. You can get watercolors, paintbrushes, and different art items from the craft aisle.

4. Canvas, Paint, and Paintbrushes

Pick up a small cheap canvas (Dollar Tree normally has these), some paint or watercolor paint, and paintbrushes for a fun gift.

5. Sticker Book & Construction Paper

Some stickers, construction paper, and maybe a box of crayons can be such a fun gift for little kids.

6. Book (Used) + Stuffed Animal

Books can be expensive, so check for a good used copy or one from the dollar store and add a little stuffed animal from Dollar Tree for a sweet gift.

7. Slime Making Supplies

Gather up the supplies for a slime making kit – get a fun tutorial and all the supplies you need here.
