Do you want to make your own DIY circle name sign for a nursery? In today’s post, I’m sharing how we made this sweet wood circle sign for our baby girl’s nursery.
Have you seen these cute circle name signs? When we started planning our baby girl’s nursery, I knew this would be perfect above her crib!
I’ll show you how we made this circle name sign for about $15 with my Cricut and some paint and stain.
You can make your own circle name signs, too! These are so cute for boy or girl nurseries, for a front door, or even as a tray.
DIY Baby Girl Nursery Circle Name Sign
All you need is a few supplies and a stencil to make this cute nursery sign.
You can personalize this in many ways too – change the stain or paint it a color, change up the fonts, add flowers or another fun element.
Supplies Needed:
Stencil – I made a stencil using Canva and my Cricut machine
Stain – I used Dark Walnut.
Paints – I used basic craft acrylic paint in white and a light pink.
Kid Safe Picture Hanger – We used this so it will be more secure and so she won’t be able to pull it down.
This all cost under $15, since we had stain and paints already.
How to Make a Custom Stencil:
I created an image using the free Canva tool, where you can get lots of free fonts.
Fonts: I used the Virtual font for Emmie, and Open Sans for Jane. I love the contrast of these fonts together.
Once I had my image and fonts the way I liked, I saved the image as a PNG where I could download it to Cricut Design Space.
Then, in Cricut Design Space, you can upload the image and edit the white parts out. I sized my image to be 18″ wide by 12″ tall.
Once you have your image sized, you can print it out on vinyl to create your custom stencil.
Making a Circle Name Sign:
1. Stain your wood round board. Let it dry 24 hours.
We used this Dark Walnut stain and let it dry for a full day so the stencil would stick.
2. Apply your stencil to the stained board.
See the directions above about how to make a custom stencil. Once you have your stencil made, apply it to the round board in the middle.
You may want to measure and make small pencil marks to space it out evenly.
Make sure all edges of the names are pressed down firmly, so the paint won’t leak under the stencil.
3. Use a foam brush to paint inside the stencil.
Now you can paint inside the stencil. I used white for the first name, and light pink for the middle name.
You can use whatever color combination you like. I love the way two contrasting colors looks.
Apply two coats for good coverage.
4. Remove the stencil.
Once you have everything painted, remove the stencil to reveal your design.
5. Touch up the paint if needed.
If needed, touch up any paint imperfections with a small paint brush.
6. Hang your wood circle name sign.
We used this Kid Safe picture hanging kit so our baby won’t be able to pull the sign down and so it won’t ever fall.
You will need to screw in two small D ring hangers (we had some already) and connect them with strong wire to have something to hang this with.
I love the way this circle name sign turned out for a baby girl nursery!

This sign really pops on top of the wall paper, and adds some design to the room.
I love how it is centered above her crib, but you could hang it anywhere in a nursery.
