What are you guys growing in your gardens this year?

We built our first raised bed last year, and kind of went crazy with the seeds we planted. We had tomatoes, okra, carrots, lettuce, and cucumbers.

And we only really ate the tomatoes and okra.

After planting more than what we would eat last year, we have decided to only plant the vegetables we love to eat the most this year.

We love the raised bed we built last year. It’s a great size for what we need, so we decided to build a second one this year.

You can check out how we built this raised bed in this post. It was super easy and you can build it whatever size you need.

What we’re planting

This year, we are going to plant only tomatoes, okra, and corn. We had great success with our tomatoes and okra last year. Corn will be a new crop for us, so fingers crossed it grows well!

In our first bed, we will plant tomatoes on one side and okra on the other.

For our new bed, we will dedicate the whole thing to corn, as we’ve read it needs to be planted in a larger quantity to be successful.

 

We are total beginner gardeners, but I really love being able to see what we can grow and harvest. It’s such a cool thing to plant seeds, take care of your garden, watch things start to grow, harvest your produce, and then actually feed what you grew to your family.

I love living as simply as we can, and I believe having a garden is one of the best things you can do to live a more simpler life. Tending to a garden really helps you appreciate what you have and the simple things in life.

So that’s our little garden plan for this year! I’ll update with pictures and let you know how it goes!
