1. Dress clothes
If you need to buy clothes for work, buy them used! You can often find great, gently worn dress clothes for way less than retail.
2. Kid’s clothes
Kids outgrown clothing so fast! Check out kid’s consignment stores or kid’s sales at local churches for great deals on kid’s clothing.
3. Toys
Kid’s consignment stores, kid’s sales at churches, and yard sales are great places to find gently used (or brand new!) toys at a fraction of the price.
4. Furniture
We have only a few pieces of brand new furniture in our home and I’m perfectly fine with it! You can save a lot of money by buying used furniture. And I typically find the older furniture was made a lot sturdier!
Look on Facebook Marketplace for furniture deals, and you may even find some pieces to paint or repurpose.

New cars lose value as soon as they are driven off the car lot!

If you or someone in your family is interested in a sport or hobby, try buying used equipment first to see how you like it before you invest more money.
You could find used music instruments, sports gear, fishing gear, etc.

I’ve found bags of fabric, ribbon, and vinyl material at yard sales.
