Want to know how to make your own DIY closet dividers? In this post, I’m showing you how I made these clothing size dividers for our little girl’s nursery.
We are expecting our first baby in a couple of months, and are getting lots of cute things to fill her closet. I wanted a way to organize her clothes by size, so I could easily find outfits to fit her in each stage.
I made these super easy DIY nursery closet dividers and love the way they turned out!

DIY Baby Nursery Closet Dividers
With just a few supplies, you can easily make your own closet dividers for your nursery or your kid’s closets.
Here’s the supplies you will need to make 6 hanging closet dividers.
Supplies:
2 pieces of 12″ x 12″ scrapbook paper or cardstock (or 4 if you want the print on both sides)
2 pieces of 12″ x 12″ heavy cardstock
Glue stick
Scissors
And either:
- Cricut machine, mat, pen/marker or
- Something round to trace, scissors and a marker
Optional:
Laminating machine – this would have been nice to have to keep the dividers from getting messed up, but I didn’t have one and I think they are just fine without.
I used my Cricut machine to cut the circle and write the sizes and her name since I don’t have the best handwriting.
If you don’t have a Cricut machine, you can trace a circle and cut it out with scissors, and use your own handwriting to write the sizes.
How to make your own closet dividers:
1. Cut your scrapbook paper and cardstock to size.
I cut my hanging dividers to 4″ x 7″ each and made 6 of these.
You will also want to cut your heavy cardstock to the same size.
2. Glue the cardstock and scrapbook paper together.
Line up one piece of cardstock with the scrapbook paper and glue together. This makes the dividers stronger and more durable.
If you want the scrapbook paper print on both sides, you will want to glue the scrapbook paper on both sides of the cardstock.
3. Cut your circles out.
If you are using your Cricut machine, place the divider on your mat and insert a 2″ circle shape about 1″ down from the top and centered 1″ from each side. I cut mine on the fabric+ setting since these were thicker.
Then, cut a line from the edge of the divider (read note below) to the circle.
If you don’t have a Cricut, find a circle object about 2″ to trace and cut the circle out with scissors. You can go ahead and cut a line from the edge to the circle for the divider to hang. (Read note below.)
Note: Think about which way your closet dividers will face, before you cut the line to the circle. You will want to be able to slide these easily from the front of the closet rod.
4. Write the sizes on each divider.
Using your Cricut machine, or your own handwriting, write the sizes on each divider.
I used 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months, 12-18 months, and 2+ years.
You can add the sizes to the top, bottom, or both areas of each divider. With the Cricut, I used 1/2″ writing size.
5. Hang your closet dividers and organize your clothes.
Now, it’s time to hang your dividers up and get all the clothes organized by size.
I love how easy it is to see what we have in each size, and what we may need to buy.
This will make it easier to dress her and find the right size clothing quickly and easily!
