Easy & Frugal Spring & Summer Home Décor Updates

This post may contain affiliate links. If you click and make a purchase, I may receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products and services I use and love. Thanks for supporting The Little Frugal House!

Wouldn’t it be amazing to have an endless budget to redecorate your home whenever you pleased? I would be at Target, TJ Maxx Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, or Pottery Barn everyday!

Ahhhh a girl can dream…

Until then, we’ve got to work with what we already have and what fits our frugal budget. And that’s ok! Frugal is a great thing. Frugal means we have to get creative, work with what we have, and sometimes do without.

Getting creative with your décor and doing DIY projects is what makes your house a home. My house is not perfect, it doesn’t look like a magazine, or the perfect pictures on Pinterest… but it reflects my family and it’s home.

Decorating for spring & summer with what we already had took some creativity, a little DIY, and just a little bit of time!

Easy & Frugal Spring & Summer Home Decor Updates thelittlefrugalhouse.com

Front Porch

I started with the front porch. I love our front porch! It is such a peaceful, relaxing place.

And I love my blue front door!!

I already had the Welcome sign that I made out of barn wood last fall and it still looks great! We got a new door mat and my mom made us a new spring wreath!

I brought out some summery pillows we already had for the porch swing… My husband got this swing for my birthday right before we moved in and I love it!!

This old chair I found at a yard sale for a few dollars last year and I love to update it for different seasons! I just added a plain grapevine wreath I had, a piece of burlap fabric, and a colorful flower pot.

Love this simple, country look!

Flower Beds

Let me tell you, perennials and hand me down plants are the way to go! We got a lot of lilies, buttercups, and iris from family! Everything filled out and bloomed so nicely this year! We planted a few annuals just to give the flower beds a little color.

I bought some cheap terra cotta pots and made these easy DIY painted terra cotta pots for my herbs and a few other flowers.

Patio

And for the back patio, I just updated a couple of our tables with antique and vintage items we have collected.

We made a couch out of reclaimed 4×4 and pallet wood, and a coffee table and side table out of reclaimed barn wood last year after we finished the patio.  I love these pieces and they were pretty much free to make.

Inside

Inside, I planted a succulent and rearranged a tray on our coffee table.

And a coat rack / shelf in the kitchen got a few updates with antiques we have collected.

And I just changed out the placemats and added some antique Mason jars for our kitchen table. I loveeee the blue Mason jars!!

It’s not perfect, it doesn’t look like a magazine, or the perfect Pinterest photos, but I love it. It makes me happy, some pieces hold memories, and it feels like home. And at the end of the day, I think that’s all that matters.

A lot of our décor came from yard sales, repurposed or refinished items, DIY projects, reclaimed wood, and some things we have been blessed to have received as gifts. We are lucky and blessed to be able to have a home to live in and decorate how we please, and I don’t want to take that for granted by wishing for something more. I love our home sweet home!

I hope you feel inspired to be ok with what you have now, and motivated to get creative decorating on a frugal budget.

What are your favorite frugal décor ideas?

I love the look of that front door! I like to update my desktop background every spring. I choose something light, airy, and floral like these free options: https://desiderataandmirth.blogspot.com/2018/02/digital-roundup-floral-desktop.html
