Children love creating things with their hands, so help keep them from looking at too many screens by getting them involved with some fun, easy craft projects and teach them about the word of  God and the Bible at the same time.

It is never too early to encourage your children’s creative side. Creating beautiful handmade art helps them build confidence and self-esteem and by focusing your craft ideas on the Bible your children will grow up with a solid faith and unique appreciation for important Bible verses.

Bible Story Character Crafts For Kids

There are so many iconic stories in the Bible and it is important for your children to learn about each one and its teachings. Use these fun Bible crafts for kids to help introduce famous Bible characters and stories to your children.

1. Apple Trees

Flatten cupcake cases and paint them green using water-based paints to create trees full of bloom. Add red or green pom poms to complete your apple trees.

Use this craft to talk about the Garden of Eden. Talk about the dangers of temptation as well as how important it is to listen to God’s instructions.

2. Doily Sheep Craft

Many of the stories in the Bible include sheep. Perfect your cutting and sticking skills by creating this cute doily sheep, create a whole flock to help you role-play some of the most popular sheep stories from the Bible

Sheep stories in the Bible:

  • Luke 5:1-7, the parable of the lost sheep
  • Zechariah 9:16, the Lord will save his people like a shepherd saves his sheep
  • Luke 2:8-20, angels appear to the shepherds to announce Jesus’ birth.

3. The Loaves and the Fish

This craft is perfect for kids of all ages, every design will be different and be full of personality and creativity using a range of simple materials such as felt tip pens, crayons or coloring pencils.

4. Jonah and the Whale

I think this is such a clever craft, your little ones will impress all their friends with this depiction of Jonah and the Whale.

5. The Lion and the Lamb Paper Plate Craft

Create this fun Bible craft and use it as part of an important Bible lesson. Creating both the lion and the lamb faces helps teach children that Jesus was both the lion and the lamb.

Noah’s Ark Crafts

The story of Noah’s Ark is well known and we felt deserved a special mention in our list of fun and easy Bible crafts.

7. Noah’s Ark from Popsicle Sticks

Create all your favorite animals using popsicle sticks to help retell the story of Noah’s Ark.

Remember to create two of each animal to help your children understand how big Noah’s Ark must have been to fit all the animals inside. Our Ark is made from a paper plate, maybe we need to find a bigger plate to help retell this story properly.

This is a great craft for younger kids, helping make sure each animal has two small eyes is a perfect counting job for little hands.

8. Paper Plate Noah’s Ark Craft

We love all the color and detail included in this fun paper plate craft. The bright rainbow and animal-filled Ark is a great way to tell the end of Noah’s story when the dove found land and the storm was over.

Younger children love to create fun crafts using everyday objects.

Cheerios make a great craft material, and they’re quite cheap too. Let’s be honest we’d never have thought of creating Noah’s Ark out of Cheerios but we love the concept and the outcome so much we’ll have to give this a try at our next craft session.

Christmas Bible Crafts

Christmas is a major celebration for Christians but it is important to remember that we don’t just celebrate the birth of Jesus during this time.

Create these Christmas Bible crafts at any time during the year to remind your children of the birth of our Savior and of God’s word.

10. Christmas Angel

These are the cutest paper angels and perfectly decorate your Christmas tree. Their simple design and delicate doily wings make them a perfect Bible craft to help teach your children about these heavenly creatures.

Angels are mentioned multiple times in the Bible, you could create these angels at any time of the year to help with your Bible lessons.

11. Nativity Paper Plate Craft

Get kids of all ages involved in this lacing craft. Give everyone a different job to create this unquie craft together. Someone can be in charge of cutting out, coloring and threading.

12. Crumbled Paper Nativity Craft

Ripping up and scrunching up bits of colored tissue paper is so much fun.

Get them to practice their fine motor skills by carefully gluing the paper bits down to create this gorgeous nativity scene.

Finger painting is so much fun and isn’t just a craft for toddlers. Kids of all ages can get involved in creating these creative Christmas ornaments.

Use small wood slices to create a natural feel and have fun thinking of different animals and people from the Bible to add to your collection.

You could even make 12 different ornaments and include numbers and use them for advent.

Or decorate one each day as you learn about the days of creation.

Cross Crafts

The cross is the main symbol of the Christian faith and a reminder of what God has done for us. He gave us a son and raised him again because of God’s love for us.

This simple craft can be created by adults and children of all ages.

Simply add masking tape in the shape of a cross on your paper and then get to work creating a beautiful design in your favorite art material. When you’re finished pull off the masking tape to reveal your cross.

15. Painted wooden crosses

Create gorgeous wooden ornaments with your children to display around your home or on the Christmas tree. The cross teaches us about Jesus and how He saved us with His sacrifice.

Add simple materials such as paint, glitter, or paint pens to create unique and creative designs.

You could use this same idea with construction paper for a quick and easy craft.

16. Stained Glass Tissue Paper Cross

These tissue paper ‘stained glass’ cross crafts will bring light and color to any window.

The magic of this craft is that you can place the tissue in any random pattern you like, and overlay the edges to give depth to your finished cross.
